Tue, 17 Sep 2002 18:14:43 +1000
<DIV>I did bit of oils shopping in brissie today and picked up the "12 armistice day/Stand in line (live @ the last 2JJ show '81) single as well as the"7 US forces/Outside World (instrumental). Also i came across some Blue sky mine patches and this Too much Sunshine CD-pro promo single. </DIV>
<DIV>Came across the "12 Red sails, 10-1, head injuries etc but didn't have the money, another day. </DIV>
<DIV>Also picked up big BSM poster of all the boys standing on the cracked beach scene. </DIV>
<P>I had a alot of though</P>
<P>BTW does anyone know where i can pick up the BSM, Diesel, ESM, or breathe Tab books, or has some that there willing to trade for somthing else oily? Thanx</P>
<P>>...something I've been doing quite a lot recently, and I have ended up with quite a few Oils goodies. </P></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>>Some "real" Midnight Oil stuff, like the original Bird Noises 12" (with cool record labels!) and the original Red Sails LP. The latter has full colour artwork inside (something I hadn't seen before), cool record labels and supposedly a different "original" mix of the whole album. Haven't listened to it yet so I can't confirm the mix. Also picked up the US Forces/Short Memory (instrumental) australian 7". My copy came without a picture sleeve, did they all do that?
<DIV></DIV>>Now, for the more obscure items...
<DIV></DIV>>First of all, I picked up a cool 3-CD compilation called "Where 2 Now?" issued by the Red Hot Green Black organisation with the subtitle "Australian bands raising awareness and funds for indigenous and environment issues". Oils contribute with "Frontier... What Frontier?", other bands appearing are Cruel Sea, Jebediah, Powderfinger, Superjesus, Shihad, Warumpi Band, Whitlams, Tiddas, Neil Murray, Archie Roach etc. etc. The CDs also have CD-rom components, including a Jabiluka documentary. Quite a find for AU$3!
<DIV></DIV>>The other item is the Australian Olympians "You're Not Alone" 7" released in 1988. The song was written by Rob Hirst with Angry Anderson, Mal Logan, Bernie Lynch and John Schumann. Kinda hard to tell if Rob sings/plays on it. He's not listed among the Artists and Musicians but neither is Angry Anderson and he's in the photo of all the artists singing a la Band Aid.
