I've heard "yellow-bellied" used in old Wild West movies to mean
"cowardly," as in:
"Why, you yellow-bellied, lily-livered, low-down varmint! Git back here
with mah HORSE!!!"
But somehow, I don't think that's what the Oils had in mind when they
wrote the lyrics for KotM...

i was thinking OF COURSE THERE'S A YELLOW BELLIED BLACK SNAKE, but
similarly to others, i can find nothing on the net. there's a red
bellied
black snake and a yellow bellied sea snake, but ne'er the twain shall
meet.
